Scientific Exchange at OPTEXC and MultiTrans: Prof. Dr. Bruno Ehrler Visits the University of Bayreuth

On October 12, 2026, the International Research Training Group IRTG OPTEXC and the Collaborative Research Centre CRC 1585 MultiTrans (funded by the German Research Foundation – DFG) at the University of Bayreuth hosted a vibrant day of scientific exchange, welcoming Prof. Dr. Bruno Ehrler from AMOLF, Netherlands.

Prof. Ehrler contributed to the OPTEXC programme with two outstanding events. He delivered an engaging, in-depth tutorial titled “Characterizing Ion Migration in Perovskites,” followed by an inspiring invited lecture, “Towards Neuromorphic Switching and More Stable Solar Cells by Understanding Ion Migration in Perovskites.”

The events drew an excellent turnout, bringing together Principal Investigators, Early Career Researchers, students, and guests from other collaborative research projects and beyond. This high level of participation once again demonstrated the vibrant and collaborative spirit defining the local research community.

Participants gained valuable insights into cutting-edge research at the intersection of ion migration, perovskite solar cells, and neuromorphic devices. By combining rigorous methodological training with forward-looking scientific perspectives, the sessions stimulated lively discussions, generated new ideas, and fostered interdisciplinary connections throughout the day.

We extend our sincere thanks to Prof. Dr. Bruno Ehrler for sharing his expertise, and to all attendees for their active participation and thoughtful contributions. Events of this caliber are at the very heart of the OPTEXC research programme—strengthening scientific excellence, driving international collaboration, and supporting the development of the next generation of researchers.
