IRTG Annual Meeting Thurnau 2023:

From June 12 to 14, 2023, the inaugural OPTEXC networking event brought together researchers from the University of Bayreuth, the University of Melbourne and Monash University – key partners within the IRTG consortium – for three days of networking and collaboration. Held in a hybrid format, the event marked a significant step in fostering a strong international research community. The meeting kicked off with introductions and an overview of the IRTG’s goals and structure.

The mornings of June 13th and 14th were dedicated to comprehensive presentations from each of the OPTEXC project areas, providing a valuable overview of the research landscape within the consortium. These presentations sparked lively discussions and identified potential synergies across disciplines. Following the project area showcases, the afternoons were focused on team-building activities specifically designed for the participants from the University of Bayreuth, with the goal of strengthening connections and fostering a collaborative network.

Throughout the event, the emphasis on networking, early-stage project presentations, and collaborative spirit underscored OPTEXC’s commitment to building a vibrant and interconnected International Research Training Group (IRTG). This first networking event laid a strong foundation for future joint research endeavors and the successful completion of our doctoral program.
