IRTG Annual Meeting Gößweinstein 2025

From October 28 to October 30, 2025, the OPTEXC hybrid fall meeting took place in the picturesque landscape of Gößweinstein in Franconian Switzerland. The IRTG PIs, Early Career Researchers, and management team from the University of Bayreuth came together for three days of presentations, training, mentoring, and networking, all centered around the latest developments in the OPTEXC program. PIs and PhD students from Monash University and the University of Melbourne in Australia joined virtually via Zoom, ensuring a truly global exchange of ideas.

The meeting kicked off with a welcome session on the first day, setting the tone for the productive days ahead. On the second day, the PIs presented their respective projects, providing detailed insights into the current research activities. Following these presentations, the group embarked on a hike up the Felsensteig, enjoying the scenic views and taking a well-deserved break from the academic discussions.

The second day concluded with an interactive poster session, where our PhD students had the opportunity to showcase their research. This session was not only a platform for presenting their work but also a chance to receive valuable feedback from their peers and senior researchers.

On the final day, the remaining projects were presented by the PIs, ensuring that all aspects of the OPTEXC program were covered. The meeting concluded with a tutorial workshop on „Communication & Negotiations“ led by Dr. Cornelia Altenburg, which provided practical skills and strategies for effective communication in academic and professional settings.

The combination of productive discussions and relaxing social activities made this meeting a truly enjoyable and inspiring experience for all attendees.

We are already looking forward to our next gathering in Kloster Banz and Bayreuth from July 19 to July 25, 2026.
